Have you experienced that when reading NA at some point it feels like you have all read it before? It took me 12 years to get bored with historical fiction novels and merely 12 months to get bored with NA. I was just about close down this blog. The other option would have been to blog about my daily breakfast which would have been a tad boring as I usually skip breakfast. Anyway, this was the last book I decided to read. Thank god I read other book blogs and listen to their reviews! Here comes the review that contains minor spoilers (because you should read the book!):

This Sky – Autumn Doughton

This book took me by surprise. It has a rather hideous cover but the most beautiful writing. I have never read anything by Autumn Doughton (if this is not a pen name, high-five to her parents because the name rhymes) before – Geez, I missed out! This author has such a wonderful way of expressing herself. Reading this book is like having a full course dinner after being on a diet for a month. Therefore I will in the following review even quote this amazing author – which I rarely do. This review contains minor spoilers:

Rule’s Property – Lynda Chance

Steamy: Sizzling hot

This book reading experience was so depressing. I was so happy in the beginning, just to have my hopes shattered. I have tried Lynda Chance before and was not too happy with her idea of an alpha male (see here). Therefore imagine my surprise when I found out that I actually liked this book. It was rrrreeeaaallly good and I would have given the book solid 5 stars if there hadn’t been the “slap-incident” that ruined everything. This review contains minor spoilers:

Past Imperfect – Alison G. Bailey

A lot of people love this book. But I just … didn’t. Well I couldn’t. In fact this book made me want to curl up in a corner and rock back and forwards until someone would take me to Disneyland assuring me that the world is pink and bright and little birds that sing will help me getting dressed everyday.

Disturbed heroes and/or heroines can be intriguing. A bit of difficulties in the past and obstacles to overcome are the kind of drama that adds spice to some of the best romantic stories, but in this book it is not a bit of a difficulty or a bit of an obstactle: The heroine needs to be put under psychiatric surveillance. This is not romantic at all, this is worrisome.  This review contains minor spoilers:

Uncovered – Emily Snow aka how to read between the lines

Rating: 1 Star

Steamy: no just endless boring sex scenes

Maybe I should start a „what to read next poll“ like the much recommended Romance novels for the beach blog did (well if I had more followers that is – no offence to my existing ones I am very fond of you) in order to avoid picking up such a bad book as I  did -again. Seriously something must be wrong lately with my receptors in the brain or I just suck at reading between the lines. So this review is all about reading between the lines!

Nero (Made Men) – Sarah Brianne

Nero

Rating: 3 Stars
Type: NA/YA
Steamy: Yes
Language: Strong

Well this book was neither bad, nor good. It was also not average. I just had major issues with it. Don’t get me wrong the book was well written, the characters well developed (at some point although a bit unbelievable but hey it’s a romance novel not a science book) and the plot was intriguing, however, what put me off was the display of sheer violence and the underlining message that apparently violence is best met with more violence. To sum up I had some moral issues with the book but apart from that readable.

Jake Undone (Gemini #2) – Penelope Ward

Rating: 4 Stars

Steamy: Yes (and well done!)

Sometimes reading a book is like going on a date. I used to be always the optimist always excited and never giving up my high hopes. Lately however my book dates where like: yay excited – ok that’s not my cup of tea but let’s see how it is going to progress – please just get better – I’m begging you get better – nope getting worse – sh** I can’t believe I’m still here – someone just knock me out please – finally over – what a waste of time – I will never call you again.

I had lots of this bad book dates lately therefore I was really anxious about getting back into the book dating market. I was reading this book very carefully (like being on an actual date and waiting if the guy turns out to be a sociopath). Fortunately this was a wonderful date it gave me back my faith in going out with a book and spending some quality time.  Continue reading

Marco’s Redemption – Lynda Chance aka short of a restraint order

marcos redemptin

Rating: 1 Star

Steamy: Very graphically described
Language: Lots of swearing

As far as I have understood Lynda Chance is an author to choose when you are into alpha males. Since I dig alpha males I have downloaded three of her books instantly (I love e-book readers yaay). While the first one (Josh and Hannah) was sweet, the second one (an Eye for an Eye) was … well a bit too much, this one is extreme. I love love love alpha males (think Derek Craven for those coming from the historical romance section like me, or as for YA Jace Morgenstern, Daemon Black etc), however, this guy Marco, he just gave me the creeps. His behaviour is not and I will repeat myself really often now not not not not swoon worthy. It is freaking short of making me want to get a restraint order.  Continue reading
